Travel with Terri: 2.3 million memories made at the 2023 State Fair of Texas

The 2023 State Fair of Texas has come to a close but welcomed more than 2.3 million people through their gates this year. As the lights and sounds of the Midway faded away, the memories made during the Fair will last a lifetime. This is an annual Texas tradition that so many, like our family, enjoy year after year. There is no place quite like this jewel in downtown Dallas.

Fletcher’s Original Corny Dogs have been a staple of the State Fair of Texas and a family tradition since 1942.

As a celebration of Texas heritage, the State Fair aims to embody all aspects of Lone Star culture. Although much has changed since its humble beginnings as a local fair and exposition, the State Fair of Texas embraces its historical roots and strives to preserve the traditions upon which it was built.

As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, the Fair aims to support the community, both locally and statewide. The proceeds from the Fair are used to preserve and improve Fair Park; underwrite community initiatives, support scholarship programs for students throughout the Lone Star State pursuing higher education, and Fair Park’s museums; and help improve State Fair operations. The annual State Fair of Texas serves as the organization’s largest fundraiser of the year – a successful 24-day run for the Fair means more support for Fair Park and the surrounding community. In 2022, due to the success of the prior year’s Fair, the State Fair of Texas was able to contribute nearly $18.5 million through philanthropic and Fair Park giving.

The State Fair of Texas celebrates all things Texan by promoting agriculture, education, and community involvement through quality entertainment in a family-friendly environment.

Mark your calendars for the 2024 State Fair of Texas, it will run again in historic Fair Park from Friday, September 27, through Sunday, October 20, 2024.
