Bartonville Town Update — July 2023

Hello Bartonville! I hope everyone enjoyed a fun and safe 4th of July celebration. This year marked the first July 4th since the Town Council banned the use and sale of fireworks in response to the feedback received through the Comprehensive Plan survey. Safety was a consistent theme in the survey responses, and we are listening.

Transparency is also important to me and the Town Council, which is why I frequently remind residents to sign up for the Town’s mass notification system through the Town’s website at www.townofbartonville.com. Notify Me allows you to set up which notifications you receive and provides email notifications of our upcoming public meetings. All board, commission, and committee meetings are posted at least 72 hours in advance, with reminders going out through Notify Me. These meetings are open to the public and I encourage residents to attend and participate in your local government. Planning and Zoning Commission members also now have dedicated email addresses to encourage feedback regarding zoning and development related concerns.

Our Town Administrator, Thad Chambers, has now been on the job for a year. The Town Council and I believe Thad listens well and understands our vision for the future. We also welcomed Shannon Montgomery as our new Town Secretary. Shannon has 22 years of municipal government experience, most recently acting as the City Secretary for Haslet. We are excited about the staff we have in place to serve the residents of Bartonville.

I am sure you have noticed the updated colors at Town Hall. A lighter, brighter pallet provides an updated clean and inviting look to the building. New landscaping is also planned for early fall after the worst of our Texas heat has passed. Town Hall is the focal point of our community, where residents most often interact with our staff and attend meetings, so Town Council budgeted for these improvements during last year’s budget process.

New stop signs are up at the intersections of Porter/Broome, Jeter/Porter, Jeter/Gibbons, and Gibbons/Dove/Frenchtown. Although all the locations now have new reflective stop bars (the white stripe parallel to the stop sign), only the new stop locations received the rumble strips to help increase awareness. It is anticipated that collectively the new safety measures will be entered into the various mapping apps used by most drivers today and will ultimately decrease cut through traffic, as well as reduce the speed of most drivers. As a reminder, cyclists are also expected to adhere to all traffic laws as they travel through Bartonville.

Development Update

Deer Hollow (5-acre subdivision behind Hat Creek) – This subdivision is nearing completion of the public improvements by the developer.

Eagle Ridge (2-acre subdivision across 407 from Tractor Supply) – The Town Council recently accepted the public improvements for this subdivision and building permit applications are expected to start arriving at Town Hall soon.

Hudson Hills (2-acre subdivision behind Marty B’s) – New homes are under construction in this new neighborhood with easy access to FM 407 and the Bartonville Town Center.

Trifecta Estates (2-acre subdivision off McMakin) – New homes are under construction in this new neighborhood with easy access to the Lantana Town Center.

Whataburger (at the corner of FM 407 and Blanco) – Whataburger has proposed a slight alteration to the approved site plan and will be going back through the CUP process in July.
