A severe thunderstorm with high winds on Sunday afternoon blew down trees and power poles, causing scattered electrical outages in southern Denton County.
In the area of Kirkpatrick Lane, College Parkway and Colony Street in Flower Mound, live power lines were reported down. A utility contractor is on the scene and estimate to have the work completed around noon on Monday, according to the Town of Flower Mound.
At one point, there were an estimated 14,000 homes and businesses without power in Denton County.
The storm blew in around 1:30 p.m. while the outdoor Farmers Market was in full swing in Highland Village, causing damage to some of the vendors’ tents.

Peak wind gusts across the DFW area from the storms today. Highest measured gust was 71mph at Dallas Love Field, but wouldn’t be surprised if there were higher gusts mixed in. #wfaaweather pic.twitter.com/oeXqLywdQO
