People across the country and in the local community will gather next weekend at their favorite trails for a walk, run or bike ride on National Trails Day, and the city of Highland Village and Denton County Transportation Authority are inviting residents to participate.
DCTA is partnering with the cities of Denton, Lake Dallas, Corinth, Highland Village and Lewisville to host “National Trails Day” events on June 1, from 9 a.m. to noon. The event is meant to get residents out and moving on DCTA’s A-train Rail Trail to enjoy the benefits of recreation and exposure to nature. The Highland Village event will be based at DCTA’s Highland Village/Lake Lewisville station, 2998 North Stemmons Freeway, Lewisville.
Promotional swag items will be handed out to participants, according to a news release from the city of Highland Village, as well as reflectors, coloring books, stickers and DCTA collateral.
DCTA will provide free A-train rides to event attendees, Just say the event code words, “Trails Day,” to a DCTA rail operator to ride the A-train free all day on June 1. The free ride promotion is not valid on other DCTA services or DART services.
