The Christmas elves at Gaylord Texan Resort in Grapevine are busy building a magical winter wonderland for visitors to enjoy this holiday season and their philosophy is “Go big or go ho-ho-home.”
The resort’s 15th annual Lone Star Christmas, presented by Pepsi, will feature a variety of holiday activities, live entertainment and grand décor to celebrate the season.
Between Nov. 9 and Jan. 1, 2019, the biggest holiday event in Texas will feature: two-million holiday lights decorating the resort; a two-story tall, 12-lane snow tubing hill made from two-million-pounds of real snow; a 6,000-square-foot outdoor ice skating rink; a 54-foot-tall Christmas tree adorning the center atrium; more than 30,000-feet of gingerbread for decorating; magical miniature trains throughout the property; 25-foot-tall toy soldiers; 2,300 decorated wreaths; 5,600-feet of garland; 15,000 festive ornaments; and, 2,000 Poinsettias.
“Our team works all year long to create this magical holiday experience for friends and families to enjoy – and there is truly nothing like it,” said Gaylord spokesperson Martha Neibling.
The Gaylord Texan Resort offers a plethora of holiday fun minutes away from southern Denton County that is sure to melt any Scrooge’s heart, including:
ICE! featuring Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, is a walk-through holiday attraction kept at a chilly nine-degrees, featuring two-million-pounds of hand‐carved, life-size ice sculptures and scenes, five ice slides, a life-sized Nativity, plus an ice bar (for ages 21 and up). Complimentary parkas are provided, but remember to bring your mittens and hats.
Snow Tubing: There is a 100 percent chance of snow in Grapevine this holiday season. Grab a tube and enjoy a thrilling ride down the two-story, 12.-lane snow-tubing hill made with two-million-pounds of real snow.
Ice Skating: Enjoy a perfect day or evening under the stars by going on a yuletide glide at Gaylord Texan’s 6,000-square-foot outdoor ice rink. Christmas in Grapevine has never been more fun.
Mrs. Claus’ Christmas Traditions: Delight in the reading of classic holiday stories and sing-along to Christmas carols, all while enjoying a batch of Mrs. Claus’ world famous cookies and a glass of ice cold milk.
Gingerbread Decorating Corner: This fun, interactive decorating tradition just got a whole lot sweeter. Choose from a tasty gingerbread cookie family kit, a snowman kit, a traditional gingerbread house kit. After decorating to your heart’s content, make your way to meet The Gingerbread Man for a heartwarming hug that you can capture with your own camera.
