The Denton County Commissioners Court has adopted a lower tax rate for the next fiscal year.

The new rate for Fiscal Year 2019 will be $0.225574, according to the county, which is the Effective Rate, the rate that will bring in the approximately the same amount of revenue it had the year before on properties taxed in both years. The new rate is a decrease of $0.012238 from the current rate of $0.237812, and it is the lowest it has been in more than 30 years.

“This is the fifth year in a row Denton County Commissioners Court has reduced our tax rate,” said Precinct 4 Commissioner Andy Eads. “Denton County has the lowest county-wide tax rate out of the top 10 counties in Texas. We have lowered the rate in response to growing appraised values and new properties hitting the tax roles.”
