The Riverwalk parking garage is on schedule to open next month.
Dan Rogers, senior vice president of business development for New Era Partnerts, the developing company, said the garage is on schedule to be “substantially completed” by March 15 to meet its incentive agreement with the town of Flower Mound.
The garage construction has had two significant delays, Rogers said. The first was that New Era’s contractor was about to leave Hempstead, located outside Houston, to come work on the garage when Hurricane Harvey hit the Texas coast, and delayed the company by a couple weeks.
The second delay was caused by an Oncor contractor having installed an underground power line that cut underneath the corner of the garage that wasn’t supposed to be there, Rogers said. After Oncor moved the power line, construction “really took off.”
New Era expects people will be parking in the garage within the next two months, Rogers said Tuesday.
“It’s a very nice structure” Rogers said. “I believe the town will be very pleased with it.”
The garage was a requirement for Town Council to approve a Marriott Courtyard hotel in the Riverwalk district, located north of FM 1171 and east of FM 2499.
The garage will be located next to the hotel, which opened in September. It will provide parking for the hotel, the medical facilities to the north and the future retail and restaurant buildings south of the hotel.
