DCSO warns against phone calls from man falsely claiming to be deputy

The Denton County Sheriff’s Office warned residents via social media Tuesday about recent false phone calls in which a man claims to be a DCSO deputy.

The sheriff’s office has received reports that a man identifying himself as Deputy James Marshall has called residents and said they missed jury duty, and a warrant has been issued for their arrest.

“James Marshall is not an employee of the DCSO,” the department wrote on social media.

“James Marshall” is using the phone number 940-312-1321. If you receive a call from that number, it is not the Denton County Sheriff’s Office.
