I think it’s a fair assumption to say that everyone loves to eat. The aroma coming out of your kitchen when a roast is in the oven, or a pot of stew is on the stove, gets those gastric juices flowing in anticipation of a deeply satisfying meal. Enjoying food begins with the olfactory sense as it detects those undulating waves of flavor passing in front of you like a fragrant mist. Yes, food is more than a necessity; it is also one of the pleasures of life. Another pleasure coupled with eating is the enjoyment of dining at a restaurant that combines atmosphere with savory entrees, superior service and perhaps an attractive wine list. With new dining establishments opening regularly throughout the area, how do you know which ones to select?
Jay Marks is a local real estate agent by trade and a restaurant reviewer as a sideline. His Foodie Friday columns are published each week on this website. He has the type of avocation that most of us only dream about. Sampling delicious selections of succulent meat and fish, spicy salads and condiment rich veggies makes me hungry just thinking about it. Moreover, engaging in this endeavor for any length of time will very likely heighten the culinary skills and bring out the gourmet in all of us. Jay’s reviews are never critical, but always artfully graphic as he takes the reader on a mouth-watering journey, describing ambiance as sensually as he describes the delectable items on the menu.
An Army veteran, Jay served in the 82nd Airborne and spent a year overseas in South Korea. He was born and raised in Oklahoma and moved to Dallas in the mid 1990’s. Coming from a family of entrepreneurs, Jay learned how to work hard and utilize his natural gifts and abilities to make money. He’s been in Flower Mound since the early 2000’s. He and his wife, Stacy, have 6 kids and 5 grandkids between them. In the video, Jay talks about his passion for food, how he chooses the restaurants to review and much more. In addition, he was kind enough to bring some fabulous pastries from Swirl Bakery in Flower Mound, which I thoroughly enjoyed during the video.
