February is national Heart Month. The American Heart Association (AHA) and its program, Go Red for Women, puts the spotlight on heart disease in women each February.
The annual Go Red for Women program encourages women and their families to take action and live a healthier life. This year’s event is on Friday, Feb. 10, from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., at the UNT Gateway Center at 801 North Texas Boulevard in Denton.
A special Go Red for Women fashion show at the luncheon will feature original fashions in red created by student designers from Texas Woman’s University and the University of North Texas Fashion Design Departments. The event benefits the American Heart Association and the women of Denton. Each ticket is $45.
Heart disease and stroke cause one-in-three deaths among women each year; more than all cancers combined. But, that statistic can change, because 80-percent of all cardiac events may be prevented with education and lifestyle changes.
Take the first step to join together for heart health. Select a favorite outfit in red and register by Feb. 9 to attend the Go Red for Women event.
