Over $94,000 in scholarship and grant money was recently awarded to 139 Denton ISD teachers and staff members by the Denton Public School Foundation in partnership with the district, local businesses and community leaders.
The funds are being utilized by teachers to enhance classroom instruction and for staff development, said Jackie Jackson, executive director of the Foundation.
Since its inception in 1995, the Foundation has awarded more than $2.85 million in grants and scholarships to teachers and staff, as well as more than $800,000 in student scholarships.
The recipients will be honored at a special reception with the Denton ISD Board of Trustees at 4:45 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 24, at the Stephens Central Administration Building located at 1307 N. Locust Street.
