Foodie Friday: Comfort Chinese food in Highland Village

I never take for granted the personal recommendations for potential Foodie Friday restaurants that we receive from our fellow Foodies. And after hearing about this local Chinese restaurant from several of our local friends (many of whom have lived here in the area for YEARS), we felt like this was someplace we just couldn’t pass up.

Our post this week is going to be short, but sweet. Here’s the basics about New China. They’ve been open in Highland Village for 22 years. Many local residents have been loyal customers for years – several of our friends even remember going there in high school! And you can tell that the owners and staff greatly appreciate their loyal customers. As we were eating lunch, there were several “regulars” who walked in and the staff knew exactly who they were and what they wanted. It was awesome to see.

And it’s all-around comfort Chinese food for a great value!

They have some killer lunch specials that we tried – all of which are just $5.50 and come with a generous portion of the entree along with a healthy serving of their fried rice (or you can substitute the fried rice with brown or steamed).

We sampled the Orange Chicken, the Chicken with Sauteed Vegetables and their Moo Goo Gai Pan. And just like our fellow Foodies promised, everything was delicious and was the definition of comfort Chinese food.

So, if you’ve been searching for a new Chinese food spot to check out, pay a visit to New China! They offer take-out, so it’s great for those nights when you just want to pick something up and eat it on your couch while binge-watching Frasier on Netflix. No? That’s just me? Oh well…

Hope you have a great weekend, Foodies! Eat well, live long, and prosper!

*New China is located at 1940 Justin Rd Ste 113, Lewisville, TX 75077.
