On Wednesday, Nov. 19, the Lewisville ISD (LISD) Board of Trustees held its first in a series of special meetings to discuss next steps in the superintendent search process.
During this meeting, the Board formally accepted Superintendent Dr. Stephen F. Waddell’s letter of retirement, effective Jan. 31, 2015.
Also, the Board reviewed a proposed superintendent search timeline with the hopes of a superintendent start date on or before June 1, 2015. Below is the timeline for the search firm selection process:
·Nov. 21 – Post request for search firm proposals
·Dec. 9 – Search firm proposals due
·Dec. 10 – Board to review all proposals
·Dec. 17 – Top search firms make presentations and Board takes action to select firm
After the search firm has been selected, an extended timeline that includes opportunities for staff and community input will be shared.
The Board also discussed specific areas to be included in the criteria to help select the best firm to conduct LISD’s superintendent search. The Board is seeking search firms that have an understanding and knowledge of LISD’s Strategic Design, Texas accountability and finance systems, Texas educational challenges, as well as national educational issues and their influence in Texas.
The Board’s rationale to include these specific areas is to ensure the search firm understands the educational challenges in Texas and LISD’s expectations that will allow the firm to effectively recruit quality superintendent candidates.
As the Board continues to hold its special meetings throughout the search process, meeting notices will be posted on www.LISD.net, as well as communicated through LISD’s social media platforms.
