Snow flurries dust Denton County

Southern Denton County survived its first scrape with winter weather this season after a flurry of white made its way through the area Sunday evening.

Snow began falling around 8 p.m. Sunday as a fast-moving light-moderate snow band approached North Texas.

Residents in Lantana, Flower Mound, Highland Village, Argyle and other areas of southern Denton County reported snow flurries that coated cars, roofs and grassy areas.

Although the snow did not accumulate on area roadways, freezing temperatures may cause bridges and overpasses to be slick this morning.

Texas Department of Transportation crews pretreated roadways in Denton, Dallas and Collin counties and were monitoring roads for signs of frozen precipitation throughout the night, according to a news release.

Skies should be sunny today with a high temperature of 44 degrees. See the latest Denton County weather forecast here.
