The Marcus High School Marching Band from Flower Mound won the Texas UIL 6A State Championship for the fifth consecutive time on Tuesday, making it an entire decade as reigning State Marching Band Champions.
Their 2014 field production was titled “Imperial Treasures”, and featured Russian-themed music including “Russian Christmas Music” by Alfred Reed, “Autumn” from The Seasons by Alexander Glazunov, “Sabre Dance” from Gayane by Aram Khachaturian, and “The Great Russian Easter Overture” by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov.
The Marcus band program is directed by Amanda Drinkwater, with associate directors David Simon, Chase Howard, Kennan Wylie, and John Leonard.
Across town, the Flower Mound High School Marching Band placed 9th in the state on their first trip to the UIL finals in school history.
