Highland Village Mayor Pat Davis resigns

Citing personal and health issues, Pat Davis has submitted his resignation as Mayor of the City of Highland Village effective immediately.

“I love Highland Village and it has been an honor and privilege to serve this community,” said Davis.

The City Council will officially receive and accept Davis’ resignation at the next Council meeting scheduled for Tuesday, May 27.

According to the City Charter, the remaining members of the Council have thirty days to appoint someone to fill the vacancy created by Davis’ resignation.

The person appointed to fill the vacancy will serve as Mayor until the city’s May 2015 council election, at which time a special election will be called to elect a person to fill the remaining portion of Davis’ unexpired term.

Davis was first elected Mayor of Highland Village in May 2012 and ran unopposed for a second term this spring. He served on the City Council from May 2009 to May 2012, relinquishing his council position to become Mayor.

He and his wife, Martha, have been married for 43 years and have been residents of Highland Village since 2000.
