OrthoTexas Outstanding Student: Emmy Edwards

Both an artist and scholar, Emmy Edwards is currently the top student in her class and the best actress among all the TAPPS schools in the state.

Edwards, a senior at Liberty Christian School, is also a mentor to a junior high student, a member of the National Honor Society and Student Council President, and has participated in several mission trips, and said she would not change a thing about her life.

“It’s important for me to be involved because I like being well rounded, and I like people,” Edwards said. “I like getting to know and finding ways to serve other people. I have an awesome family that holds me accountable and keeps me going.

“They keep me motivated, and I have learned to manage my time well. It’s hard, but I really love everything that I do at the school and in the community. I enjoy my life being busy.”

Edwards is also a member of the Key Club at Liberty Christian and has a grade point average of 4.47, good enough for first in her class.

The Liberty Christian senior said what she loves the most about attending LCS is what the school focuses on.

“What’s really awesome about our school is that we have an environment where we can really pursue and learn about God,” Edwards said. “Our teachers encourage us in that, as do the staff members, and I just love that.”

Edwards was lead actress in a one act play this year that advanced to the state competition, where she received the Best Actress Award.

She also received third place in the Prose Interpretation category at the TAPPS State meet, and she and her duet partner won first place in Duet Acting.

Edwards was also named Best Actress at Liberty Christian’s annual Fine Arts banquet.

The Liberty rising senior said she has a couple of objectives for her senior year

“My goals for this year are to be involved in the student council and make it a good year for my senior class and the whole school,” Edwards said. “I want to go on a mission trip again, of course, and I am trying to keep my grades and class rank where they are.”

Edwards is also an accomplished pianist, where she received a score of 1 at the State Solo and Ensemble contest as a soloist this past year.

Edwards said her first choice for college is Baylor University, but said she has heard from the University of Oklahoma, as well as Harvard and Yale.
