Chamber committed to excellence

In March 2010, the Flower Mound Chamber of Commerce took a step that had many scratching their heads.  The vacant position left by their past President’s resignation was not going to be filled.  The Executive Board of the Flower Mound Chamber stepped in and took a more active roll and decided to leave the staff of Cindi Howard, Kathy Beahm and Kelly Heslep in place to run the day to day happenings of the chamber with the then Chairman of the Board, Andy Eads, to work closely with them and see what happened.

2010 turned out to be the most profitable year in the history of the Chamber, even in the face of slowed economic times.  After a proven track record, current Chairman of the Board, Harold Shepard, and his Executive Board followed through with the decision and named the three as the Executive Team of the Flower Mound Chamber.  The Board of Directors along with the Team began the task of ensuring professional excellence at the chamber.

One of the ways this was manifested was the decision to send Kelly Heslep, Executive Director of Programs and Events, and Kathy Beahm, Executive Director of Membership Services, to earn their Institute of Organizational Management (IOM) certification.

Heslep and Beahm completed the first year of this program at the West Institute in Los Angeles in the summer of 2010.  It is a four-year program and they will begin their second year in mid-July.  A scholarship was applied for and awarded for one of the two spots both years.

Cindi Howard, Executive Director of Operations, had previously earned her IOM and will be attending a graduate course for advanced leadership in Pennsylvania this summer as well.
