Town to Honor Volunteer Firefighters
The 3rd Annual Double Oak Volunteer Fire Department Appreciation Dinner will be held Tuesday, October 5th, at the Double Oak fire house at 1110 Cross Timbers Drive.  This is the 30th anniversary of the organization that consists of certified firefighters, paramedics, and emergency medical technicians. Tournament Will Help Abused Kids
The Children’s Advocacy Center for Denton County will host their 15th Annual Benefit Golf Tournament presented by DATCU on September 15th at Bridlewood Golf Club in Flower Mound. All proceeds will support the Children’s Advocacy Center. Register at www.cacdc.org or call Dan Leal at 972-317-2818.

New Section of FM 2499 to Open in October
Section 4 of FM 2499 in Highland Village is nearing completion and will open to the public well ahead of schedule on October 30th, according to Denton County Commissioner Bobbie Mitchell. Section 4 includes a bridge over the far western portion of Lake Lewisville that will connect FM 2499 in Highland Village with FM 2181 in Corinth. The project was originally expected to be completed in April 2011.

Every Day’s a Holiday at Fundraiser
The Denton Benefit League’s Eighth Annual Sensational Settings Fall Fundraiser on October 26th will turn the Denton Country Club into a whimsical wonderland of tabletop designs, celebrating the traditional and everyday holidays in our lives with creative centerpieces, dinnerware, table linens and dozens of unique finishing touches. AARP Revs up Driver Safety Program
The Town of Flower Mound Seniors In Motion program is hosting an AARP Driver Safety Program designed for individuals 50 and over on Friday, September 24th, from 9:30am until 2:00pm at the Flower Mound Community Activity Center, located at 1200 Gerault Road.
