Flower Mound resident Cedric Bernier, 11, took first place in the Junior division at the Pokémon Video Game South Regional Championships over the Memorial Day weekend.
Bernier faced 293 competitors in front of over 2,000 spectators at the event, held at the Arlington Convention Center.
He will be representing Texas later this month in the national championships in Indianapolis and could possibly advance to the Pokémon Video Game World Championships in Kona, Hawaii, on August 13th.
