Women’s club continues tradition of giving

The Highland Village Women’s Club recently presented a check to the Highland Village Police Department for $849.96 for computer monitors in the Patrol Report Writing Room.

Since July 1970, the club has held fundraisers to provide the city with non-budgeted items including:

• Two bicycles, funding for Rosie the Robot, a defibrillator for patrol cars, two VCR’s, two TV’s, a laser printer and a clearing chamber for the police department.

• Two firefighters suits, “Jaws of Life”, an adult backboard, SCBA bottle, a voice amplifier, a child CPR mannequin, a defibrillator, two electronic temperature monitors with supplies and a stokes basket for the fire department.

• Funding for the Police Auxiliary program and badges.

• A water fountain for Copperas Branch Park, a picnic table for Lions Club Park and a park bench for Unity Park.

• Two TV’s for training and two digital cameras for the city.

Each year, the non-profit organization partners with the city to bring residents the “Our Village Glows” tree lighting and holiday celebration.
