Governor's Race Begins in Denton County

The first GOP Gubernatorial debate of the 2010 Primary season between two-term Texas Governor Rick Perry, three-term U.S. Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison and Wharton County Republican Party chair Debra Medina will be held right here in Denton County next Thursday night.

Perry, Hutchison, and Medina will face off at the University of North Texas Murchison Performing Arts Center in Denton at 7:00 p.m. Debate tickets are available free of charge from the Denton County GOP office, with a limit of two tickets per person.

The debate will air live on KERA-TV, KTXA-TV and KERA-FM and will be moderated by KERA News Director Shelley Kofler. CBS 11 News Anchor Doug Dunbar will host questions live from the audience, which will include Republican voters from Denton and Tarrant counties.

Denton County and Tarrant County Republican parties are hosting a watch party during the debate and a post-debate candidate reception. Tickets for the the watch party and reception are $150 per person, or $35 for the watch party only.

The candidates have agreed on at least one thing – that the proceeds from the reception and watch party will go to the 2010 Republican Victory Fund.
