Calls for service to the Denton County Sheriff’s Department from Lantana rose 10 percent in the third quarter of this year compared to the same period last year, according to data analyzed by LantanaLinks.com.
Police responded to a total of 329 calls for assistance from the community between July 1 and Sept. 30. As usual, false burglar alarms accounted for almost half of all runs. See the data here.
Year-to-date, the sheriff’s department has responded to 1,064 calls for service, a 33 percent increase over the previous year. Police runs increased 57 percent between 2007 and 2008.
Lantana residents are encouraged to get involved in the local Crime Watch program, which is currently active in several neighborhoods.
