Flower Mound police arrested the boyfriend of a murdered teenager on Nov. 13.
Garrett Gower, 20, of Ft. Worth was apprehended in Bedford and charged with Capital Murder in the death of his girlfriend, 16-year-old Brittany Munoz of Flower Mound. He was booked into the Denton County Jail.
An autopsy by the medical examiner’s office revealed that Munoz was six weeks pregnant at the time of the murder.
Munoz was found by her older sister, Crystal, on the afternoon of Nov. 10 at an apartment unit she shared with her sister and mother in the Timber Ridge Apartments on Timber Creek Road. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said that Munoz was discovered lying in bed with the covers pulled up to her chin and blood on her face. She had sustained blunt trauma to the head and shards of glass were found under her body and on the bed.
Investigators determined that Gower was the last person to see Munoz alive, and named him as a person of interest in the case.
After a three day search, police found Gower at a psychiatric facility in Bedford, where he had apparently checked into on the day of the murder. He was arrested without incident.
This was the first murder in Flower Mound this year.
