Denton to start tagging recycling carts containing non-recyclable items

The city of Denton will soon begin a new process to avoid recycling incorrect items.

Starting March 1, city workers will tag blue recycling carts that contain items that are not recyclable and will not empty the carts until the following week, after those items have been removed, according to a city news release.

The only items that should go in your recycling cart are cardboard and flattened boxes; aluminum and steel cans; paper; and cartons, plastic, and glass marked with a recycling symbol. Do not put any plastic bags, styrofoam, food scraps, paper towels or cardboard soiled with grease (such as used pizza boxes) in your recycling cart.

  1. Really? Sounds like a good reason to put everything in the trash can. We pay you for a recycle bin so that you can earn money off our recycling? Will that work for you?
