Northstar Construction on Wednesday kicked off the Heritage Park Phase 2B project in Flower Mound.
Area residents can look forward to improvements that include: 88 additional lighted parking spaces; a one-acre pond with boardwalk, fountain, underwater LED lighting, and a waterfall feature; 11 picnic stations with tables; and additional concrete trails.
The project is expected to wrap up in November.
Flower Mound Parks and Recreation staff ask that during the course of construction residents use the western entrance of Heritage Park, which is closest to Fire Station 5.
Construction for Heritage Park Phase 2B will not interfere with the use of Fort Wildflower or the pavilion.
